Caring for your kurti
A hand block-printed kurti is a living thing — cared for well, it grows softer and more beautiful with every year.
First wash
Wash your kurti separately the first two or three times — natural pigments may release a little excess colour. This is normal for hand-printed fabric and settles quickly.
Washing
Gentle hand wash in cold water with a mild, bleach-free detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods and never wring the fabric — press the water out softly instead.
Drying
Dry in shade, inside out. Direct sunlight is the enemy of natural dyes — it fades the print unevenly. A breezy spot away from the sun keeps colours deep for years.
Ironing
Iron on the reverse side while the fabric is still slightly damp, on a medium setting. This protects the print and brings back the fabric's natural fall.
Storing
Store folded in a cool, dry place. If you're keeping a piece for a long stretch, a muslin cloth wrap lets the cotton breathe — avoid plastic covers.
Treated gently, the finest cotton outlives every trend.
